What Happens During a Session?

You feel calm and relaxed during your session. You are seated, comfortably supported in a chair and footstool. Hypnosis feels like daydreaming with your eyes closed, so it’s a completely safe and natural state.

You are aware, listening to my voice and imagining positive scenery. This calms your conscious mind, so we can access your subconscious mind. You are in the normal, relaxed brain states of alpha and theta. In these states your mind is more receptive, so we can change your limiting thoughts and therefore your feelings and behaviours.

Each session is different and the whole process is designed to find the root cause, work through any resistance to letting go of old patterns and fears. Then we breakthrough to the re-learning and establishing new thoughts and habit patterns. Empowering insights help you gain a deeper understanding plus you are doing something about it permanently. Hypnotherapy is a ‘do with’ process, so you are an active participant. You play an active role in the successful outcome of your session(s).

Will I Know What's Happening?

Yes, you are aware of everything. Hypnosis is a relaxed state of heightened awareness. Meaning you are aware of my voice, the sounds in the room, you talk and can move your body. You will also remember what is said. At no time do you fall asleep, become ‘’unconscious’’ or not be aware of what’s happening, this old perception is a myth of Hypnosis reinforced unfortunately by the media and Hollywood.

What If I Don't Go Deep Enough?

Don’t worry about how deep you go because that’s not important. The depth of a trance is not linked to the results. You usually hover between alpha and theta brain states and that’s normal.

Will I Reveal Something I Don't Want to?

No, you are always in complete control and can censor if you want to. Trust that your subconscious mind will only permit what you are ready to deal with plus we get permission from the subconscious mind anyway to see if it’s OK to explore the issue.

Will I Quack Like a Duck?

No, this is therapy not Hypnosis for the stage. You cannot be made to do anything against your will or moral code. You are always in complete control.

What If I Go Back to Memories that are Painful or Scary?

If you go back to scenes from your life that are traumatic, know that you are not reliving that memory. You are disassociated from it, simply reviewing it, so you can let go of the emotional charge on it and see it differently. You are safe and supported to work through it and let it go. The past is gone, and this can go as well. The past does not have to define your future.

Is Hypnosis Magic or Mind Control?

Not. Hypnosis is a science. It works by creating a burst of brain waves that are the same as when you’re in REM. That’s what allows you to access the subconscious mind. A therapist has no power or hold over you. You are always in complete control and are a willing and active participant.

When Will I Start to See Changes?

The responsiveness can vary from client to client however there are usually three types of change with Hypnotherapy.

  • Immediate: You feel a shift right away in the first session. Immediate changes in your physiology, thoughts and behaviours right from the first session onwards, which continues over the 6 sessions and beyond.
  • Incremental: You see consistent shifts every week plus over time, which accumulates as the sessions build upon each other too.
  • Retroactive: There is a subtle shift, or you don’t necessarily recognise the shifts right away and then one day you look back and see all the things that are different in your life.

This 6-session process is a unique method that is designed to address and work through the root cause of the issues all way through to re-wiring your neural pathways for long term success. Most people choose to continue their sessions as they enjoyed it so much or they choose to work on other areas in their life. It helps enormously if you are motivated to change, follow through with the process in the suggested timing and use of the audio at home.
